Frederick Jefferson

Dr. Frederick Jefferson is Professor Emeritus at the University of Rochester and is CEO of Jefferson Associates. Frederick has more than 30 years of experience in graduate-level teaching, and research in organizational change, leadership development, understanding the influence of human diversity on the change process and managing diversity. His thought-provoking, enthusiastic and innovative approach to his work has made him a highly sought-after professor and consultant. Frederick has worked with numerous large corporations and not-for-profits. Frederick has held several positions at the university, including director of special student services and university intercessor. He has chaired several not-for-profit boards of directors including the United Way and the Red Cross.

Sherri McArdle

Sherri McArdle is Co-CEO of McArdle Ramerman, Inc., a results-oriented leadership development firm. She is a seasoned leadership development expert with more than 20 years of experience in business leadership and consulting. Dynamic and probing, Sherri connects with business leaders by asking skillful and challenging questions. She has consulted within a broad range of organizations, including advertising; education; engineering; hospitality; high tech; law; healthcare; financial, community and professional services; manufacturing and retail. Sherri has a business degree and advanced training in business strategy and development, organizational and family systems theory and counseling. She co-authored the recently released leadership development book, “Why Dogs Wag Their Tails: Lesson Leaders Can Learn About Work, Joy and Life.”

Jim Ramerman

Jim Ramerman, Co-CEO of McArdle Ramerman, Inc., is an innovative organizational consultant. He has spent more than 25 years helping businesses and organizations find better ways to achieve their goals. Jim creates techniques that provide leaders and their teams with insights that lead to long-term positive change. He has taught and presented to graduate-level courses in leadership, conflict management and human relations skills at several colleges and universities. Jim holds degrees in education and theology and is a PhD candidate in social science. Jim’s doctoral work concentrates on interpersonal and group conflict management, leadership and group dynamics. He co-authored the recently released leadership development book, “Why Dogs Wag Their Tails: Lesson Leaders Can Learn About Work, Joy and Life.”

In a 90-minute session, master coach Jim Ramerman will talk about an opportunity to learn those skills and demonstrate their impact.

He'll also introduce the Leadership Coaching Course created jointly by the University of Rochester Warner Center and McArdle Ramerman & Co.

Leadership Coaching Course —

Accepting enrollment for March 2010

For the emerging and experienced professional coach, this course focuses on understanding leadership roles and effective coaching approaches that help drive performance. Students will join highly motivated peers and leadership coaching practitioners to learn and develop practices aligned with International Coach Federation (ICF) requirements, as well as acquire the tools to sharpen self-knowledge, confidence and expertise.

In addition to building core leadership coaching knowledge, students will work on developing their own clarity, credibility and encouraging presence—the three applicable performance drivers, whether one is a coach or leader.

Duration: 125 hours, including eight 2-day in-class sessions and individual coaching experiences.

    Structure:

  • Full group learning experiences
  • Individual coaching experiences
  • Coaching practice groups
  • Peer-coaching support groups
  • Practice coaching (pro bono with 2-3 clients of student’s choice)
  • Requirements: Written application and personal interview

    Cost: $11,500

    At course completion, earn:

  • MRI/URWC Leadership Coaching Course certificate
  • 125 training hours required by ICF for the Professional Coach Certificate (PCC)

Executive Coaching Course —

Early registration for classes beginning Fall 2010

Building on the core knowledge and practices of leadership coaching, the emphasis of this advanced course is on the context and results-orientation of the senior executive. Students will join highly motivated peers and executive coaching practitioners to learn about system theories and organizational culture, while developing a deeper and more sophisticated set of coaching skills and technologies. Additionally, with intensive, ongoing feedback, students will continue to work on the three enhanced performance drivers—their own clarity, credibility and encouraging presence.

Duration: 75 hours, including two 4-day in-class sessions and individual coaching experiences.

    Structure:

  • Full group learning experiences
  • Individual coaching experiences
  • Coaching practice groups
  • Peer-coaching support groups
  • Practice coaching (pro bono or for fee with 2-3 clients of student’s choice)
  • Requirements: Completion of the Leadership Coaching Course or equivalent, written application and personal interview

    Cost: $7,500

    At course completion, earn:

  • MRI/URWC Executive Coaching Course certificate
  • 75 training hours toward ICF certification

The combination of both Leadership Coaching and Executive Coaching courses completes the 200-hour training requirement by ICF for the Master Coach Certificate (MCC).
