For the progressive leader or emerging and experienced professional coach, this course focuses on understanding leadership roles and effective coaching approaches that help drive performance. Students will join highly motivated peers and leadership coaching practitioners to learn and develop practices aligned with International Coach Federation requirements, as well as acquire the tools to sharpen self-knowledge, confidence and expertise.
In addition to building core leadership coaching knowledge, students will work on developing their own clarity, credibility and encouraging presence—the three applicable performance drivers, whether one is a coach or leader. Click here for a full information page.
This nine-month experience covers eight two-day in-class sessions and individual coaching:

- Peer-coaching support groups.
- Practice coaching (pro bono with two-three clients of student’s choice).

Dr. Frederick Jefferson is Professor Emeritus at the University of Rochester and is CEO of Jefferson Associates. Frederick has more than 30 years of experience in graduate-level teaching, and research in organizational change, leadership development, understanding the influence of human diversity on the change process and managing diversity. His thought-provoking, enthusiastic and innovative approach to his work has made him a highly sought-after professor and consultant.
Frederick has worked with numerous large corporations and not-for-profits. Frederick has held several positions at the university, including director of special student services and university intercessor. The Leadership Coaching Certificate program at McArdle Ramerman Inc. has been approved as 83 hours of Approved Coach Specific Training Hours (“ACSTH”) by the International Coach Federation (ICF).
According to the ICF:
"The Approved Coach Specific Training Hours designation is awarded to programs that follow the ICF Definition of Coaching, Code of Ethics, and Core Competencies, and that meet professional standards for coach training programs established by the ICF. Graduation from an ACSTH program will meet the ICF's requirements for individual coach certification for student contact learning hours for the number of hours of the program.
"ACSTH approval does not warrant or guarantee the effectiveness of the training or the student's ability to build a successful coaching practice. The individual applicant must take the ICF’s portfolio exam to obtain their credential."
