Learning will take place in a dynamic group setting and in one-on-one coaching by the co-CEOs of McArdle Ramerman Inc.—Sherri McArdle and Jim Ramerman. Sherri and Jim have tens of thousands of hours coaching CEOs and senior executives. Direct, insightful and encouraging, Sherri and Jim will help coaches sharpen their insight, skills and confidence to take coaching skills to the next level. They’ve helped more than 100 organizations bring about behavioral change for better results and better lives, and built one of the most highly-regarded and successful leadership development firms in Upstate New York.
All graduates of the course will receive a certificate of completion and will have the option of ongoing supervision and access to proprietary coaching tools as they build and sharpen their executive coach roles and practices.
Signup and fee
The $9,800 course fee includes all instruments, course materials and selected reading. Joining the Intensive Executive Coach Development program requires an application and qualifying interview. Course location: McArdle Ramerman offices, 40 Commercial Street, Rochester, NY 14614.

Program specifics
Group module I (September, 2007): Foundations of executive coaching
- Review the range of coaching competencies required for effective leadership development
- Increase your self-knowledge utilizing an extensive range of personal assessment instruments to determine and build on your:
- Skill level.
- Natural coaching style.
- Personal communications approach.
- Developing your “non-anxious” coaching presence: Gain objectivity and clarity on your own “filters” and how they affect the way you see the people you coach and issues they face.
- Create a learning community: You will build a deep connection with, and within, the other learners in the course. Your fellow participants will become a supportive environment as you learn new skills for connecting with a wide range of coachees/clients.
- Observe professionals, practice coaching skills and receive feedback from instructors and colleagues.
Group module II (January, 2008): Your client, your coaching and clarity
- Learn and practice key coaching competencies of establishing credibility; boundary setting; asking high-gain questions; giving and receiving challenging feedback; the “no-advice” rule; listening for the unsaid; maintaining focus; modulating intensity.
- Manage your client relationships across (and outside) organizational reporting lines: set ground rules of working in any system to ensure a safe and confidential environment.
- Emotional intelligence for the executive coach and for the client
- Learning Agility for the executive coach and for the client
- Observe and practice coaching skills and receive feedback from instructors and colleagues.
Group module III (April, 2008): Building your coaching practice
- The profession and business of coaching.
- Ethical guidelines and professional coaching.
- Building your experience base, reputation and portfolio.
- Making the right choices; avoiding common coaching/consulting mistakes.
- Systems thinking – managing change in individuals and systems.
- Observe and practice coaching skills and receive feedback from instructors and colleagues.
Group module IV (June, 2008): Integration, presentations and path forward
- Building what you’ve learned into a practice-based plan.
- Exploring and integrating the impact of what you’ve learned.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill integration in a seminar format.
- Observe and practice coaching skills and receive feedback from instructors and colleagues in the class.
- Graduation celebration.
Individual coaching sessions
Working in private one-to-one sessions with Sherri or Jim, you’ll accelerate your learning and have program content focused just for you. There is a strong emphasis on achieving client business results through people and this will enable you to address current coaching issues you face right now. Your development process will include objective feedback, action planning, and debriefing of actions and outcomes.

DISC, Emotional Intelligence and Learning agility, plus understanding the use of 360° feedback and a wide-range of McArdle Ramerman tools created for executive coaching usage.
Ongoing services available for IECD graduates at additional costs/fees
- Executive coaching supervision by a McArdle Ramerman principal.
- McArdle Ramerman principals available for coaching and consulting in organizations.
- Leasing of MRI developed coaching tools and selected executive development materials by topic.
- Access to, and centralized processing of, DISC and MBTI instruments.
